Founding Purpose

Committee for the Reconciliation of the Korean People, Diocese of Uijeongbu strives to bring the gospel to the entire Korean peninsula through prayer, education, and the practice of sharing so that the Church will fulfill its vocation for the reconciliation of the Korean people who are divided in the North and South. 

Project Summary

   ▷ Education and Promotion for Korean People’s Reconciliation

 - Holding “Korean People’s Reconciliation School” multi-level classes 

 - Producing the online peace education resource “Card News: Peace Good News” twice monthly on the 1st and 16th day of each month

 - Producing the English “Newsletter” on the 1st day of each month

 - Publishing Committee for the Reconciliation of the Korean People teaching materials

 - Peace education with teens and young adults


   ▷  Supporting the Parishes’ Committee for the Reconciliation of the Korean People

 - Education and solidarity with the parishes’ Committee for the Reconciliation of the Korean People

 - Meeting with leaders of the parishes’ Committee for the Reconciliation of the Korean People

 - Training for members of the parishes’ Committee for the Reconciliation of the Korean People

 - Publishing the “Way of Peace” materials for the parishes’ Korean People’s Reconciliation Committees’ monthly meetings


   ▷  Ministry and Support for North Korean Defectors[Refugees]

 - Assisting the spiritual growth of Catholic (and potential) believers (except for visiting education)

 - Monthly mass, training, retreats, and regular meetings with North Korean defectors[refugees]

 - Training and education for North Korean defector[refugee] resettlement specialists

 - Resettlement, emergency assistance, support for families hosting[living with] North Korean defector[refugee] children

 - Providing information and connections with resettlement and medical assistance


   ▷ South-North Exchange Cooperation

 - Connecting to churches in North Korea, partnering with humanitarian exchange projects for the people of North Korea


   ▷ Prayer and Liturgy for Reconciliation and Peace 

 - Saturday prayer meetings for peace on the Korean Peninsula and reconciliation and unity of the Korean people

 - Prayer for the peace and reunification of the Korean Peninsula every night at 9 pm(with the “Our Father”, “Hail Mary”, "Gloria")

 - Mass for the peace and reunification of the Korean Peninsula

 - Requiem mass for divided families during the Seollal and Chuseok holidays

 

   ▷ Solidarity

 - Exchange between the Conference of Bishops’ Committee for the Reconciliation of the Korean People and the diocese Committee for the Reconciliation of the Korean People

 - Solidarity and exchange with religious and civil society organizations

 - Solidarity with the Catholic Church in the USA and Japan
